The Williams Group books have several 10 question checklists that can give you and your family members a quick "transition wealth check". While not absolute standards, these checklists are one way to evaluate your "odds" by comparing your family to 3,000+ families who have transitioned before you.
Please call The Williams Group for a complimentary copy of these checklists:
Wealth Transition Checklist
(to determine how your family's wealth transfer plans compare to
our researched families)

(Page 57, "Preparing Heirs") |
Heir Readiness Checklist
(for Moms and Dads to determine if their children are prepared)
|
(Page 112, "Preparing Heirs") |
Self-Checklist for Heirs
(for heirs to take to inform them
what they can be doing to prepare for
wealth and responsibility)

Depending how your family scores on the Wealth Transition checklist, the family may want to know if all members of the family interpret their post-transition readiness the same as Mom and Dad. They can do so by having the entire family participate in a more complete 50 question Family Transition Checklist. This is discussed at length in "Preparing Heirs" on page 82-85 and gives the entire family (including spouses and grandchildren over age 15) an objective report on whether their family is prepared for the estate transition.
