Roy O. Williams (1937 - 2017): Celebrating a Life of Bringing Families Closer Together

Roy would not want us to be sad at his passing, but rather, celebrate life and the importance of family. For more than five decades, Roy made his life's work about bringing families closer together by strengthening bonds of trust and making sure family wealth becomes a powerful force for good.

He recently wrote, "By creating a culture of trust and purpose in families and helping them find their voice, we were able bring to light conversations about money, values, personal responsibility and the future we all want to create for the sake of our larger world and the future generations in our own families."

Roy's legacy lives on in the many families he has coached and the countless lives he has changed through his books, his speaking and his family research. No one has contributed more to the deep understanding of how wealth can be successfully passed from one generation to the next with family unity intact.

The Williams Group's proven family coaching process evolved from more than 20 years of Roy's field interviews with affluent families where he saw firsthand both the joys and tragedies that wealth transition can bring.

At The Williams Group, we honor Roy by carrying on his legacy through our coaching work with families where we continue to use the processes, tools and learning he pioneered. The leadership of The Williams Group transitioned earlier this year when Roy became Chairman and Amy Castoro was promoted to President/CEO.

Amy shares, "I was fortunate enough to have worked with Roy for the past seven years.  As a coach, my commitment is to allow people to find their own voice and design a life for themselves that has purpose. Roy did that for me.  Through my work with Roy I have been given the gift of "doing God's work" as he put it, and found deep compassion and gratitude for the families we are honored to work with.  He was my teacher, up until his last breath, and has changed my life, and my family's life forever. It is a privilege to carry his legacy forward as President/CEO and continue his values of authenticity, fortitude, perseverance, and love of humanity.
